The Hole in Our Gospel review

This book is a MUST read. Written by Richard Stearns, president of World Vision, The Hole in Our Gospel is a powerful book the reminds us of the churches mission/purpose.

As I read I was convicted of how far we have wondered from what we have been called to do. We have defined missions as taking Jesus to the world and if necessary providing food and clothes, being told that in order to get them to listen we have to meet their most pressing physical needs. Jesus told us that if we did it to the least of these we did it to Him. How can we not see what He sees?

"One of the disturbing things about Church history is the Church's appalling track record of being on the wrong side of the great social issues of the day." "kind of pronounced 'culture blindness,' an inability to see the dominant culture through God's eyes."

I went on World Vision and looked at some of the children that are there for monthly adoption and sat and cried thinking how can you choose? We in America are rich when 90% of the people in the world makes less than $25,000 a year and 93% don't own a car.

I challenge every one who calls themselves Christian to read this and not ask themselves "What are you going to do about it?"
